Language for Description of Geometric Configurations

This contribution is an informal presentation of some concepts, facts, and definitions about general configurations, as well as a description of our proposed GL/0 language for symbolic description of geometric configurations. Emphasis is placed on the demand of invariance of geometric descriptions in the spirit of the Erlangen program of Felix Klein, and on the need for separation between the notions of configuration and of segments. Some possibilities for use of the same ideas in other, not necessarily geometric domains are described.
Parametric Surfaces in PHIGS PLUS: a New Chance for Patterning and Hatching?

The Polygon Fill style PATTERN and HATCH, which are quite successful in 2D graphics standards as GKS1 and CGI2 have proved to be less suitable for 3D graphics standards as GKS-3D3 and PHIGS4. However, the emerging standard PHIGS PLUS5 offers a unique chance to successfully employ these Interior Styles (under another name and in a slightly different form), because PHIGS PLUS supports a.o. topologically rectangular parametric surfaces In this article it is shown how these Interior Styles could be efficiently applied to curved surfaces in PHIGS PLUS. In addition, the possible interaction between the tessellation method and the patterning is shown.
KA?MOE: A Clausal Language for CAD MOdeling Systems with Morphological Constraints

A declarative language (KA?MOE) for CAD-CAM modeling is presented. The language is designed to protect topological models constraints and guarantee their inheritance in complex entities built up from simpler ones. By itself, KA?MOE behaves as an evolution of Prolog, which is integrated with primitives for modularization and for privatizing modeling structures so as to guarantee interfacing the language with relational or deductive Data Bases.

Rational Zoom of Bit Maps Using B-Spline Interpdation in Computerized 2-D Animation

This paper describes the application of B-spline interpolation to the problem of rational transformation in computerized 2-D animation. The technique described herewith can also be applied to the resolution independence problem which arises when the same production workstation is used to produce animation series to be recorded on variable film sizes This article fully explains our solution to the problem of rational zoom. An algorithm has been written to speed up computations by spreading the computing load among similar technical workstations hooked up in a network. Large magnifications of professional quality can be achieved in very little time and very smooth animation effects can be obtained by applying rational zooms with magnification coefficients that are a time function.
